Academic evaluation research about our charity:

Exploring the impact of voice recording in terminal illness:

The Brighton and Sussex Medical School is designing and conducting an academic evaluation of the impact of voice recording during end of life.

It will involve interviewing hospice patients who have recorded their story, as well as family members or friends, asking about their experience of being given and/or listening to an audio-biography. The aim of the evaluation is to provide a greater understanding of the process and impact of recording a biography during end of life generally and the work of our Hospice Biographers Charity in particular.

Their aim is to evaluate the potential benefits of recording a biography for terminally ill older people as well as highlighting any adverse issues. This is a preliminary study which will inform a future larger scale and more in-depth research project that will provide wider learning and understanding.
